Carol Carpenter Houston, DVM
Veterinarian
Dr. Carol Carpenter Houston is a Columbus, GA native who graduated from Hardaway High School before earning her Bachelor of Science from the University of Georgia. She went on to receive her Doctor of Veterinary Medicine from Auburn University College of Veterinary Medicine in 1993.
Dr. Houston first joined River Road Animal Clinic as an intern after veterinary school, then moved to Auburn, AL, where she owned and operated Pet Vet for 12 years. In December 2009, she returned to Columbus and purchased River Road Animal Clinic from Dr. Anderson. Since then, she has enjoyed caring for local pets, reconnecting with longtime clients, and building lasting relationships with families throughout the Columbus area.
Dr. Houston is especially passionate about client education and pet wellness. She believes clear communication helps pet owners feel more confident about their pets’ care and supports better health through every stage of life.
Outside of work, Dr. Houston enjoys horseback riding, training, and competing, as well as spending time at the beach, reading, cooking, trying new recipes, working out, and enjoying great seafood. She comes from a large family and values the joy, loyalty, and unconditional love pets bring to everyday life.
